Warehouse Management in Microsoft Dynamics™ AX 4.0

(Format: 1,5-day under the direction of practice Instructor-Led Training)

 

!!!This course is specifically designed for Microsoft Dynamics AX customers. As an attendee, you gain an in-depth understanding of the Warehouse Management module.

At Course Completion:

After completing this course, students should be able to:

  • Create and set up Warehouse Management including inventory dimensions, inventory model groups, store areas, zones, inventory aisles, and locations
  • Receive and store items
  • Complete the item picking and shipping process
  • Access inquiries and reports to obtain information needed
  • Explain RFID functionality in Warehouse Management

Prerequisites: Before attending this course, students must have competed: Microsoft Dynamics AX Introduction and Production series. In addition, it is recommended, but not required, that students have completed: Finance 1 & 2 eCourse, Production Series I eCourse. As well as having a fair understanding of the Trade and Logistics functionality of Microsoft Dynamics AX.

 

Course Outline:

Chapter 1. Introduction to Warehouse Management: This first chapter provides students with a better understanding of the general functions and need for a software package to assist companies in tracking of items in warehousing . not only the basic tracking, but also the integration to other modules within Microsoft Dynamics AX. Students will be told the key benefits of the Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse Management system, as well as the functionality required for warehouse management and the structure and integration of Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse Management with other modules within Microsoft Dynamics AX. Also the importance of maintaining sound records of the items leaving and entering a warehouse is discussed.

 

Chapter 2. RFID in Warehouse Management: This chapter provides a high level overview of RFID functionality as it relates to Warehouse Management in Microsoft Dynamics AX. It explains how to receive goods using RFID technology. This chapter also addresses the process for picking, packing and shipping RFID tagged and non-tagged items.

 

Chapter 3. Setting up Warehouse Management: In this chapter, the setup process of Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse Management is presented. This lesson attempts to follow the setup flow. However, it is impossible to avoid some jumping back and forth between forms because the forms are interconnected and interrelated. All steps of the basic setup are covered in detailed description. Set up of inventory dimensions and inventory model groups, set up store areas and zones, and set up of inventory aisles and locations will all be discussed.

 

Chapter 4. Receipt and Storage of Items: This chapter discusses in detail the specific order in which items arrive in Warehouse Management. This chapter also covers in greater detail the procedures for item receipt using an Arrival Journal, as well as registration using the Inventory button on the purchase order line.

 

Chapter 5. Item Picking and Shipping: This chapter reviews the order-based picking and shipping of items using the Warehouse Management module. It provides an in-depth look at the process in Microsoft Dynamics AX for shipping items. This lesson also explains how to pick and ship items, create output orders and picking routes, and how to complete shipments.

 

Chapter 6. Inventory Model Groups in Warehouse Management: The purpose of this lesson is to explain and define inventory model groups within the relationship of Warehouse Management. This chapter discusses how to set up and run inventory model groups, as well as how to assign items in inventory model groups.

 

Chapter 7. Storage Dimensions: This chapter provides a detailed explanation as to what storage dimensions are and what they are used for. Students should learn to set up Location and Pallet ID storage dimensions along with how to use each.

 

Chapter 8. Quarantine Management and Warehouse Management: This chapter explains how quarantine management works in connection with Warehouse Management. It shows how to set up an item using both quarantine management and warehouse management. Also, it provides information about how to handle quarantine items in Warehouse Management. The chapter covers in detail how to enter items into quarantine, both manually and automatically. The process for item receipt is discussed and explained, as well as quarantine orders.

 

Chapter 9. Inquiries and Reports: This chapter discusses the features regarding inquiring and reporting against the data created through the previous chapters. How to view inquiries is explained along with how to locate the specific inquiries required. Also explained is how Warehouse Management reports allow you to have a hard copy of various aspects of Warehouse Management.
